On the afternoon of January 4, the Alytus Music School filled with joy. A special event at the school is the opening concert of a concert piano.

It is true that we are creating paradise here on earth. And miracles are not magic, but fruits of sincere cooperation and benevolence. The headmaster of the school, Prof. dr. Aldona Vilkelienė. She thanked the name of all 580 students, a quarter of whom were studying piano. The headmaster noted that the Music School, which was built in 1978 as a unique, tailor-made school project for music education, has the only excellent chamber concert hall in Alytus, and that all technical options were methodically selected when choosing a piano. The initiative of Justina Gringytė, a former student of the Alytus Music School and the charity foundation founded by the now famous soloist of the major world theaters, helped the school to purchase a concert piano and moved the Alytus community - business leaders, academic music lovers, politicians.
Realizing their bold dream and helping them to buy a high-quality German concert piano, entrepreneurs wanted to sow the seeds of humanity and musicality. President of Alytus Rotary Club Juozas Cicėnas read a long list of supporters, individuals and companies, thanked for the contribution of the De-Zavu Choir, and welcomed the success of joining forces of many goodwill supporters. President of Alytus Zonta Club Ona Klinavičienė wished for louder sounds coming from outside Alytus. President of Dzukija LIONS Club Andrius Stasiukynas thanked Alytus City Municipality, Mayor Vytautas Grigaravičius and council members for approval to supplement the missing amount from the municipal budget. Mayor of Alytus city V. Grigaravičius told the story of the project, special thanks were given to the founder of the charity Justina Gringytė, who is constantly coming back to Alytus with new proposals and plans. Robertas Šarknickas, Member of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, spoke to the audience with meaningful thoughts from the characters he played in the theater, stating that a person was disappearing and his music was staying. All these wishes were crowned with a concert. It was started happily by students of Alytus Music School Mantas Veselga (teacher-methodologist Lina Abromavičienė) and Žilvinas Grigonis (teacher-methodologist Rita Frendzelienė). Justina Gringytė, accompanied by Milda Umbrusevičiūtė, was sparkling with her artistry on the stage of the Music School, and her performances instantly took her to Carmen's trap and her childhood concerts, where Justina's dad was the loyal listener. Veronica Kopjova, a pianist living and performing in Vienna, makes a virtuoso call as if she were talking to the keys. She enthusiastically assured listeners that such a piano would attract many famous artists to Alytus.
It's a good idea to have one.
So many people of good will were able to enjoy the fellowship, positive emotions and music that sounded so warm that night. Probably because it was clear to everyone that a gift, a concert piano, is for everyone, that music and goodness, like wisdom, are a value if you share it with others.

The music school community once again says thank you very much, dear supporters!

Daiva Grabauskienė, Senior Teacher, Head of Theoretical Department
